Strategic Facilitation

Co-design is at the heart of my approach to facilitation. Clarity of purpose, methodologies and shared desired outcomes, alongside my understanding of organisational and team dynamics and an instinctive and intuitive warm style make for lively, productive, and successful events. From 5-day residential facilitations to half-day events, these sessions are always critically important to organisations. Sensitive preparation is key - from interviews with key stakeholders, and credible framing, and then ensuring different voices are heard, and measurable outcomes are achieved. Appreciative Enquiry underpins my work - building on strengths and then directly addressing what needs to change.


Mediation

Trained by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), mediations are often part of my work in organisations. They provide a structured yet flexible process for people and/or organisations to work towards a negotiated agreement of a dispute. An understanding of power differences due to, for example, race/ethnicity, sex, socio-economics, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion, as welll as status and hierarchy is important in most if not all mediations. Whether the mediations are between  individuals or groups, there is always anonymised  learning for the organisation, which for example, addresses the gap between the culture that is described and that which is experienced.


Leadership Mentoring and Coaching

I work with great leaders who want a completely confidential and safe space to explore, design, reset, revise, and rejuvenate. I get to know people very well. I have an eclectic approach, based on respect, warmth, challenge and humour. I sometimes work with people for only 3 months, but more often for a year or more on challenging issues where equity and diversity are ingredients if not the presenting isssues. Leaders contact me sometimes because there is a sensitive issue which presents an immediate risk, and sometimes because they want to address some challenges in a safe and secure space. If it was simple, our conversations would not be necessary.


Public Speaking

I enjoy public speaking at large conferences or smaller more intimate settings like round tables. I bring a wealth of insights, case studies, and anecdotes from over 30 years of specialising in a field of work that is often considered fraught and frightening. I get to know the organisation and their internal and external drivers of the sector they operate in so that I can tailor the presentation and the stories, and the interactive elements if that is required. I aim for short, sharp, interactive, positive and punchy, using a small slide deck!
